Ask the candidate

How would you present your findings and their significance? Describe gait, site of tenderness, movement, leg length and functional limitation. Persistent pain or inability to mobilise after a fall needs further assessment despite initially normal radiographs. A child’s knee pain may arise at the hip; interpret examination in the age and clinical context.

What would you do next, and why? Explain the important uncertainty, a relevant next assessment and when help is needed. State what you could not assess.
